Spinel...A Hidden Gem!

Spinel has been around for thousands of years and natural Spinel has always been a rare and gorgeous gem! At one point, prior to modern day gemology Spinel was often mistaken for rubies and sapphires as they could be found in the same mines. Since there are now ways to determine the chemical make up of stones, it is evident that Spinel has its own distinct makeup. Red Spinel is the most valuable followed by purple, blue, orange and other Spinel colors. Natural Spinel stones today are almost all untreated. Their relative availability in nearly any color along with their hardness makes them suitable for most types of jewelry thus,

interesting to gem enthusiasts worldwide!
